Theme

Our 2009 theme, From Here to There,  is designed to encourage us to answer the basic question of "How can we get from where we are right now ("here") to where we want to be ("there")?  In order to faciliitate this conversation, many of the talks and discussion sessions will feature ideas and information that touch upon the broad concepts of connectivity and mobility.

Connectivity is at the heart of Bioneers.  The importance of growing our understanding of how we are linked cannot be overemphasized.  In this process, it's crucial that we bring together people representative of many areas of human endeavor: science, health, justice, education, business, and spirit, to name just a few.  In other words, we need diversity on many levels and in all its beauty -- this is the way to catalyze, incubate and implement the new ideas and networks that lead to change.

Mobility, the quality of moving freely, is a key aspect of connectivity.  How does human mobility impact individual, community and environmental health?  Our landscape and economy?  How can natural forms, processes and ecosystems inform human ways of moving?  What can we learn from our past and how can we create sustainable alternatives to current adverse practices?

By coming together and utliizing these underlying concepts to assist us, we hope to inspire individual and social change to the benefit of our organizations, our communities, and our region.
